Cannabidiol –CBD- is a cannabis compound derived from legal, industrialized farmed hemp that has significant medical benefits, but does not produce the psycho-activity of it’s counterpart, THC.
CBD-rich cannabis is non-psychoactive (compared to THC-dominant strains like marijuana) which makes it an appealing option for patients looking for relief from inflammation, chronic or severe pain, arthritis, anxiety, seizures, spasms, and a host of other auto- immune issues like MS and fibromyalgia. CBD also helps with sleep issues, weight loss, and irritable bowel symptoms.
Hemp and marijuana are actually two different strains of the original cannabis plant, but cultivated for different purposes. Marijuana is cultivated for the THC aspect and is tightly regulated, with THC quantities ranging from 5 to 35%. Hemp, among it’s many uses, produces plants high in medicinal cannabidiol or CBD. By regulatory standards, the THC content of CBD is considered zero if it falls under 0.03% Reference.
Much of the scientific and clinical research on CBD has been sponsored by the government, in treating many chronic conditions and neurological disorders. Reference.
The CBD oil that I promote is pure, organic, and infused with pure hemp oil (no fillers, no alternative oils like coconut) and is peppermint flavored. By using the whole plant derivative, your body ‘knows’ what to do with it. It is administered sublingually (under the tongue) in whatever dosage applies to you specifically. It’s not a one-size-fits-all dietary supplement. There are guidelines offered on each bottle, but I recommend finding your own personal dosage that feels best for you.
It’s always a good idea to speak to your medical provider before starting any new therapy.
How Much CBD Should I Take?
The 500 mg bottle offers 10 mg per dose and is a great introductory or maintenance supplement. The 750 mg bottle offers 15 mg per dose and is recommended for maintaining a healthy immune system. The 1500 mg bottle offers 30 mg per dose and is recommended for supporting the body’s innate antiviral and natural healing capabilities. So for instance, 20 drops (1/2 dropperful) at this dosage would give you 50 mg of CBD in one serving. This level would be for treating symptoms that require an aggressive therapeutic outcome.
Each bottle of CBD is 1 oz and contains approximately 50 servings.
