Why exactly should I do a detox?

Detox 101 Our body goes into detox mode each night when we fall asleep. Our body continually strives to detoxify and find balance, in an often-times toxic environment. From the water we drink, the air we breathe, the hidden pesticides in our food supply… its a constant struggle. Sometimes a little help in the right direction will make all the difference in how we feel. Consider doing some type of detox  program in the natural cycle of Spring and Fall. Salad anyone?  Eating some raw food each day, like a big salad, will act like a broom in your digestive tract, sweeping out toxins and ‘stuck’ particles that need removal. Think of creative ways to take a salad to lunch, or have it ready in the fridge for dinnertime. Eat Real Food ♥ Real food is fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, sea vegetables, wild-caught fish, and lean meat. During a detox though, you would limit meat and fish, and certainly avoid most grains. Including good quality fats during this time is very important too. Some examples would be extra virgin olive oil, flax seed oil, coconut butter, coconut oil, avocado’s, nuts and seeds. The bottom line: man made chemicals collect in our cells and cause numerous health issues. Elimination is just as important as eating healthy....
